11th Annual HFC/FMH Golf Classic
The clear, blue skies and moderate temperatures on September 13, 2007 made for a perfect day at Maryland National Golf Club. At registration, the 144 golfers received complimentary gifts of a Cutter & Buck jacket, cell phone cover that clips to your golf bag and more. After eating a hearty breakfast, the golfers headed off to the greens. The event tradition continued with volunteers serving lunch on the course that included the famous fresh pork barbeque sandwiches, prepared by Dave’s BBQ and pizza donated by local restaurants. Throughout the day the golfers enjoyed complimentary snacks, beverages, putting and hole-in-one contests.
The fun continued into the evening with a traditional dinner of delicious steak & crab cakes from The Red Horse Restaurant. The live auction captured the attention of many with bidders vying for rounds of golf, concert tickets, spa treatments and more. The evening concluded with the awards presentation to the top golfers, 50/50 and door prize drawings.
Hospice Director Laurel Cucchi puts it into perspective, saying "Once again this outing surpassed all other previous outings. The proceeds from the event allow us to serve families who need expert help to care for a loved one facing a terminal illness—regardless of their ability to pay. Laurel Cucchi reminded everyone why they spent the day on the golf course. She related the story of a 19 year old she visited at the Kline Hospice House who, while facing his own mortality, thanked Laurel and the entire hospice team for "taking care of [his] parents."
